CPU/Mobo Gigabyte to offer 4 card SLI solution

Guide
Ok.
Now its officially gone insane ;)
Gigabyte is gona offer 4 card SLI solution for Pentium 4 LGA 775 platform.

At the time, we were told that the firm was working on such a solution. It appears that the company has made significant progress, as the first picture of such a solution has reached our offices. The board, currently named "GA-8N-SLI Quad", shows four PCI Express slots that can be occupied by SLI-compatible graphics cards. According to sources, Gigabyte found a way to combine two nForce4 SLI chipsets on one platform. Interestingly, the board integrates two different versions of the chipset - the nForce4 SLI Intel Edition represents the Northbridge, the version for AMD processors is used as Southbridge.

The board will only be able to carry Pentium processors using the socket 775. Sources told us that Gigabyte is currently testing the 4-GPU board and is likely to enable two configurations. First, the GA-8N-SLI Quad will be able to work with two Gigabyte 3D1 dual-GPU cards and make an additional three PCI Express slots available. The second option is to use single-GPU SLI graphics card in each of the four slots. This translates to a support of either two x16 or four x8 PCI Express slots.

but why is this in the cpu/mpbo section?

Ok...so that'll be 4 GFX cards, two sound cards ( emu + audigy), TV tuner, modem (just in case). 8 cards! What kind of cooling will that require?

oh and the Physics card as well....Does any mobo have this many slots?

bro u seem to be confused.

Where did u see so many slots on the mobo.

It has 4 PCI-E x16 slots.
2 PCI-E x1 Slots
1 PCI slot

Looks like since the P4 is doing so pathetically in Games compared to A64, this might be an attempt to come closer.

Heheheh...poor Intel...

It's miles away before you reach FX and 6800 Ultra SLI OC'ed..lol
Just my opinion.

No but seriously, how many enthusiasts do really buy Gigabyte ?

Thats what i meant. it has only 3 slots besides the 4 ( which will be filled by gfx cards). What kind of enthusiast board is this???

Just further down on the same page:

ATI will showcase its own multi-GPU solution "Crossfire" at this year's Computex. The company did not release any detailed information about the technology but sources said users will be able to combine Crossfire-enabled cards with any other graphics card. Also, ATI's approach appears not to be limited to just two GPU - or four such as in this case. Crossfire may be able to support up to 32 graphic chips, sources said.

Can you imagine what 32 GPUs will do to a game? We will probably need a 32 CPU mobo to do justice to that particular monster!!

^^ hehehe....
tht 32 gpu monsters r being used in sme army or smethng, rite??

but to a desktop.....its just tooo early

Rockyme2002 posted 3.9 minutes later:

Btw just noticed......whn those 4 gpu's will b installed ......will ny1 b able tyo add ny othr card to the rest 3 slots ;)

Damn the situation here is such that people cant afford a single card thanks to the hi-prices ! And now we have a Quad SLI solution being offered ! And ATi's crossfire seems interesting with that tiling concept and multiple GPU configuration.
