Graphic Cards Good graphic card for Gigabyte GA-P35-S3G (Budget 5k)

Not sure whether my mobo is PCI-e 1.0 or 1.1

So far I was using an xfx nvidia 8400GS.

My room is arranged in such a way that my CPU is at one end and I run a 5m VGA cable to the Monitor (syncmaster 2243nwx) at the other end.

Recently my computer started crashing and windows gave me a blue screen asking me to change the video adapter. I opened the GFX card and saw that one of the two solid capacitors of the card had burst open. I am wondering that is it because of running a long VGA cable that this capacitor got damaged? (Due to extra load or something)

I bought the card from a dealer on August 28th 2009,and it is supposed to have a 3 year warranty. When I went to Rashi at Lamington they told me it was purchased in May and your warranty has expired. Go to your dealer, he will be able to help you out. I don't know how this works so is it worth going to the dealer and doing something about it?

Anyway I have a 5k budget for a new graphic card so please recommend.

5650 is ur best bet. Throw in 1k more u would end up with a 5750 which would be a far better investment. Also if u are ok with this scour the TE Market for better deals on used cards which is what i would do in your place.

The cabby and monitor distance is kinda strange, but then 15 feet is not big enough to blow capacitors imho.

But unless there is a detrimental factor i urge u to reposition the cabinet by keeping your Monitor on top of the cabby, since its an LCD it would not be much of a bother.

And if that is impossible atleast get a DVI 5m cable cuz using a vga for 5m may not be the best move

Ok, thanks.

But my monitor has a VGA port only.

So what you are telling is to take a cable out of the GFX card DVI port (using a DVI to VGA adapter) and then use the same 5m VGA cable into the monitor in future?

Also I think the 5650 and 5750 need a proper PSU (branded and >450 watts) so will I have to do a major upgrade as my stock PC has a unbranded unknown PSU. (Didn't know about these things when I bought the PC 3 years ago, but getting to learn a lot here)

And I'm a new member only 3-4 posts, but I'm unable to upload images through the techenclave android app, what's the matter, mods, anyone?
