Good QWERTY Slider phone - replacement for Nokia N97 mini

A friend is looking for a good QWERTY slider phone to replace a dying Nokia N97 mini.
What are some good options?

Some phones shortlisted are the Sony Xperia Pro and the HTC Desire Z.
The Xperia Pro doesn't look too bad and sells for roughly 14k. But the Desire Z seems dated.
Budget roughly around this 14k price point.
