It is possible that Google is working on a lower cost alternative to the already budget priced Nexus 7 tablet. A $99 version would effectively kill cheap Chinese tablets flying around in many markets such as India itself.

Google and ASUS went to great lengths to fit the Nexus 7 Tablet under the $199 price tag while maintaining a top notch product. That case won't apply with a $99 tablet (if rumors are all true). Google is planning on a cheap tablet with cheap specifications. Our only concern is if that ends up hurting the Android experience for the consumer/buyers of that tablet.
