Finally ordered PS3 Move Starter Pack from Intencity.in and got it delivered on the next day!!! my second purchase from intencity.in and both times i got my stuff in 24 hours which is great.
Connected the Move yesterday night after coming from work and installed all demos which come with the starter pack. Here are my first impressions:
1. There are just 2 USB ports on PS3 Slim and the cam takes up 1 port, not very impressed.
2. Cam quality very very poor. max resolution of 640 x 480.. a game like eyepet shows you on the screen and all that HD beauty of PS3 goes down the drain.
3. Games very inconsistent:
a. Eyepet requires you to keep the camera on ground or point the camera towards the ground, and even after spending like 30 mins on it, am not able to play with my pet.
b. Beat Sketcher
requires you to hold the motion controller atleast 1.5 m away from the camera (so had to move the camera and point it upwards again. went all the way back to the room which im sure is about 2.5 to 3 m but the game still didnt go ahead the screen which said "hold the controller atleast 1.5m away from the screen and press O.
c. Sports champions:
you get to play table tennis and disc golf, both played nice and was fun to play. the realism with simplicity is great. for eg. you may miss the ball if you move the controller from very high or low. if the other player makes a slow drop shot, you have to move forward to hit it. The game is generous enough to let go off of your hand speed, i.e. while serving or hitting a shot only if you hit it too hard, it will go haywire. most of the times the ball with remain in control
d. TV Superstars,
fun to play, you just have to move your hands from here to there as it is shown on the screen
e. Tiger woods Gold 2011
quite nice and realistic simulation, detects very accurately.
f. Echochrome ii
interesting game, works nicely. no problems
g. Tumble...
awesomeee.. the block moves exactly as you move the controller (inch by inch, angle by angle), you have to play it as if you are actually holding a block and have to keep it very precisely. was highly impressed by the depth on the screen (you can move the box forward, backward, up, down, left, right it moves as you move the motion controller and in the exact same angle of the motion controller. you can also turn it round by turning the motion controller)
h. The Shoot...
Everyone's favorite, VCop2 is back in a different avatar!!! shoot em' bad guys as the camera moves around by itself in a wild wild west themed movie set of a movie in which you are a hero, just take care not to shoot the civilian girls. it apparently has a "bullet time" sort of power up where everything slows downs but haven't played this game well enough so don't know. Overall this game is very much fun as you shoot the bad guys appearing on the screen by "realisticly" pointing the motion controller towards them instead of the good ol' mouse.
Overall i would say the tracking is good atleast it works great in sports games.
i didnt like the fact that some games want you to stand close to the camera and some want you to stand far. also just to play eyepet, i do not wish to go and change the camera angle everytime.
if the orb is not being seen by the camera, it instantly loses its sight. happend in disc golf where i held the motion controller behind me and it showed that the cam is not able to see the orb, neverthless the cam caught it very quickly when it was back in view and there were no glitches in gameplay whatsover.
some review sites are complaing about the big glowing orb distracting the player, but i don't think it will be distracting for the players, since the players eyes would be fixated on the screen while the controller will be held most of the times between the chest and the belt. Although it is still quite bright, can see the reflection in my plasma if that part of the area is dark and if people see you with that big light, they will think you are going crazy...
Thanks for reading.
