im slightly on a budget here.. needed a gpu and psu within 6k max 6.5k. needed for monitor resolution 1280x1024.
primary aim- adobe suite and video editing rendering and sound editing

other config
phenom IIx4 925
4gb ddr3
500gb*2 sata hdd
300*1 sata hdd
1 cd-rw and 1 dvd-rw

open to seconds only as a last resort

MSI Radeon R5670-PMD1G 1GB for 5.4k and you could run it on a local psu i guess or search for a second hand branded psu

Sapphire HD5670 512MB ~ 4400

Corsair CX400 ~ 2400

Total = 6800

u wud b able to play games also @ 1280x1024 Resolution as its a decent graphic card...

mrcool if u want the combo strictly within ur budget then u shud go wid HD5670 512MB + Gigabyte Superb... But if u can spend some 300 bucks more then HD5670 + CX400 is really a great combo... CX400 has better build quality + Great A.S.S + Long Cables...

If u wud buy gigabyte superb u wud face one problem... it doesn't have long EPS12v 4 pin CPU cable... so if u have a cabinet like gamma which has bottom mounted PSU... then the the EPS12V 4Pin CPU cable wudn't able to reach the 4pin connector on the motherboard... To solve this problem u have to buy a 4 pin ESP12v CPU extension cable... i hope this helps... :)

AFAIK, Adobe doesn't use OpenCL, so having an AMD based card won't benefit you there. You'd need a nVidia card which uses CUDA, such as a gts250, or a gts450 which should cost you between 6-7000 rupees. The price difference between the 450 and 250 isn't much, so get the 450 as it's based on a newer core, and is faster.
Or get the GT 240 which should come for about 5500, but isn't half as powerful as the other cards. However it isn't power hungry so if you've already got a semi-decent power supply maybe you can save there.

^ Read the requirements of the OP...primary aim- adobe suite and video editing rendering and sound editing

He hasn't mentioned gaming at all...so how does the 5670 meet his requirements? It can offload some video processing, but it can't help offload his Adobe CUDA workloads.
IMO, the OP will be better off with an Nvidia GPU, if the workloads he's doing can be offloaded onto the CUDA engine.

have u seen any CUDA encoded video?

I had done this earlier in this section when a guy was asking whether he should get a better GPU OR CPU because he planned to do heavy video encoding, the verdict was simple a GPU can encode but thanks to the extra wonderful coding the quality is nowhere close to a decent CPU, so verdict clearly said heavy encoding = better CPU OR go buy a really good GPU.

next the TE thread with a different link, post #14 -- http://www.techenclave.com/graphic-cards/best-graphics-card-hardware-video-transcoding-185162.html

If u will encode a video wid a GTX580 and the same video wid GTX560 the result will b the same... So u wont see any difference in the video that was encoded using two different cards... Both will look worst as compared to even a P4 processor encoded video...

So i think u really dint mean this:

so verdict clearly said heavy encoding = better CPU OR go buy a really good GPU.

guys better openGL version also helps adobe fare better. further nowadays after effects and 3dsmax are optimized to use gpu. nvidia has the advantage in that section. check the adobe forums. there are numerous issues with the ati drivers incompatibility and errors with adobe.

personally i had adobe recognize a 6600gt better than it did radeon xpress card..

cpu wise phenom ii x4 925 betters intel quad core 6600. so no problem there. gpu would have to be better than the 9600gt which betters 5670.

right now have zebby platinum 500w

was leaning towards the s12ii 520w but itwares says he only has this

SeaSonic SS-500-ES 500W 80+ Bronze Certified Power Supply--- dont like the 80mm fan on its back.

im hoping i can upgrade the psu first and then the gpu. that gives the zebby breathing space and probably changing space also:D

If you going to use it for Adobe products then better stick with Geforce cards and their drivers are for more robust in Adobe products, else go with Sumit05's option "Sapphire HD5670 512MB GDDR5 - 4400/- Gigabyte Super 460 - 2000/- T0TAL ~ 6400/-" if you want Nvidia card then GT240 is the only better option in that price range or try to find a 9800 GT 512MB green edition @ 5k.
