Graphic Cards graphic cards set to become cheap?

Hi all,
With almost all the new OS'es GNU/Linux with OpenGL & XGL based distros as well as Vista requiring graphic cards would the cost/pricing of graphic cards come down drastically to what they're today alongwith Warranty support to something like 3 yrs. What do u guys think?
 
There was a Graphics Card section just next to GeneralHardware. I dont see why you had to post a graphics card related thread in general hardware..
 
No dude majority of people still use integrated graphics solutions from intel and others and will continue to do that! Infact intel is now making an integrated solution with direct 10x support. It wont be that great for gamers but good enough for the rest of the people . So even after vista , a majority of people will continue to use integrated solutions. As far as their price coming down , well they are already down.Intel GMA 950 costs something like 7 $$$.
But if you wanna play games at decent settings you still have top buy top-medium end cards and infact their price would only increase !!!

As regards warranty is concerned , don't they already provide you 3 yrs warranty ????( plz correct me if i am wrong!)
 
@ Renegade u're right, blind as a bat.

@archer This is sad state of affairs then. If the costs would come down then many more people would buy graphic cards, was thinking like South Korea where cost of components is really low methinks because of economics of scale.
 
It will become cheap only if a progressive minded govt. takes office and reduces the customs duty and other taxes imposed on these products.As long as these things are perceived as rich man's luxury , they will continue to be expensive even if it makes no sense to keep the prices high !!
By keeping the prices high the govt. isn't protecting any domestic industry for no domestic company in india makes graphics cards. Also it doesn't result in more taxes for the govt. for higher the taxes fewer people are gonna buy them. That's the problem:- damn politicians!!Change that and you get a solution for everything!
