Graphic Cards Graphics card needed within 8k

Please suggest a good graphics card within the budget of 8k. This is the first time i will be gaming so my needs are not that high. My main requirement is that it should play games like modern warfare 2, nfs, crysis, half life, bioshock, as well as upcoming titles like crysis 2, bioshock 2 etc at low to medium quality on a 19 inch monitor. I mean that i should have respectable gameplay. Not that extreme type since i am a completely newbie in this field.

ati 5750 will be a good choice. If power consumption is not an issue,u can get 4870.what power supply do you have?

i have actually not bought my new config where i will be using this card. i may buy the corsair VX450 or any other decent 450-500w psu

What about ati 5670?

The 5670 is not very powerful, the 5750 is almost twice as good. The 5750 is your best bet as it comes with the latest feature set, low power consumption and decent performance. However you can get better performance if you are willing to buy used. A used ATI 4870/4890 or an Nvidia GTX 260 will perform better for sure. They will consume more power though, and they dont support DX11

i dont want a very high performance card. i want something thats more than 5k. i mean will the 5670 be able to play all crysis 2 and other upcoming games?

Sure the 5670 will be able to play the games but you'll most likely have to turn details to low. To get good performance you'll need a better card thats why i would recommend at the very least either a 5750. But as i said a 4870/4890/GTX 260/GTX 275 would perform even better

i vote to HD 4870 Sapphire 512MB GDDR5 @ 7.8k or Palit dual sonic 512 for 8.2k. It performs neck to neck with HD 5770, and even beats it most of the times. It has excellent vfm.

there isnt much performance diff b/w 512 and 1G of 4870. maximum of about 5% even at full HD, but that doesnt justify the price difference.

There is a far bigger difference than just 5%. It depends on game to game and on the resolution, but especially for newer games go for a 1 GB card. Especially at higher resolutions the higher ram will make a big difference. Heres a comparion back in 2008, check out the difference.AnandTech: The Radeon HD 4870 1GB: The Card to Get

With newer games taking up even more ram i would strongly suggest a 1 gb card

Difference like 10%+ kick in at 2560*1600. AT 1920*1200, its b/w 3~4 fps max. But the price difference is around 1~1.5k.

Nope with some games like GTA 4 and Far Cry 2, differences are seen at even lower resolutions, even 1680X1050 and lower resolutions. And with AA VRAM size is even more important. One example is this AnandTech: AMD?s Radeon HD 5770 & 5750: DirectX 11 for the Mainstream Crowd

And as i said newer games are likely to continue with this trend so if i were to buy a new graphics card, 1 gb would be the minimum size i'd get.

^^

Grab this:-

MSI HD5770 HAWK 1GB GDDR5 @ 10.2k

IMO best card to buy at this budget... Excellent cooling, INSANE OVERCLOCKING potential.. and a VX450W will be more than enuf to juice it.

My PC is 2-3 yrs old and is without any graphics card . The config is a below.
Intel E7200 ,D31PR Mobo,1x2 gb 800 Ram,PSU is stock 450W cebronics.
I would like to have a decent graphics card which can play most games.

@ NSP

budget ?

upgrade your PSU too to something like this

FSP saga350: 1.5k [if low~ lower mid end GPU]

FSP 400/gigabyte 460 superb: 2.4k [mid end gpu]

for GPU, u can look at these

HD 5650, HD 5670 or 5770 for 9.5k

@dom1nator ,

buget is < 8k.
ls my Mobo and ram adequate enough?
The PSU is 450W now.
I read that new generation graphic cars are PCI express 2.0 but mobo is from old generation
