Graphic Cards Graphics card upgrade

Hi,

Please suggest a graphics card upgrade for my HTPC which is on 24/7.

I currently have an Nvidia 8800 GTS 320mb GDDR3.

I am trying to improve HD playback and reduce power consumption if possible using the new generation cards. If the file size is greater than 8gb on m2ts files I find stuttering on some of the media players like VLC and MPC Home cinema.Cyberlink powerdvd 10 plays fine but there is loss of picture detail as compared to MPC.

Also please suggest a budget 60GB SSD drive which is also reliable.

SAPPHIRE HD6670 1GB DDR3-4.8k or Sapphire HD5670 512mb DDR5-4.5k would perform better than GT440.OP mention your budget for ssd.

AMD HD 6670 1GB DDR5 ~5500/-, also if you can extend your budget and want to retain a chance of gaming [on low / medium settings @native resolution of your monitor] then get the AMD HD 7750 ~6500/-.

Which SMPS do you have?

As for SSD, look into Corsair Force 3 series ~5000/- [for a 60GB SSD]. What do you intend to do with the SSD, if you wish to put the OS in that and use it as the boot drive, recommend you go for the 80GB version of the same ~7500/-.

Hope this helps, Cheers!!

Thanks to all for the suggestions.

I have a budget of Rs-9000 for the SSD and 6000 for graphics card.

So is corsair considered to be more reliable than OCZ or kingston SSD's.which one has better warranty support in India/Hyderabad.I am in two minds about going with the SSD because of high failure rates.

6000 for graphics card.

Up your budget slightly and get the AMD HD 7750 which shall last you for ~2 years easy.

OCZ SSD's are the best out there in terms of raw performance, but if you factor in after sales support Corsair has one of the best support structure [in the form of Kaizen Infotech], so for ~8500/- you will get the Corsair Force III 120GB OR 80GB drives.

For shops go to CTC in Secunderabad and there visit --

1) Shweta Peripherals

2) Bhumika Peripherals

Hope this helps, Cheers!!
