This is what i heard!

If you are an existing subscriber for a defined period of time, then you can upgrade to TS+ for 4000 bucks. The Rs. 50/- will also not be applicable. This comes from someone who is distributing TS here and was apparently conveyed to him by the area's Regional Manager from TS.

How is Tata Sky+ service different from Tata Sky service?
Tata Sky+ has MPEG4 technology, and an in-built personal video recorder that enables you to record live TV, play back a recorded programme and pause & rewind live TV. These features are not available on Tata Sky service.

mpeg2 for tatasky and mpeg4 for tatasky+? does that mean that they are running 2 parallel transmissions?

no STB that are mpeg4 can also be able to handle mpeg2 transmissions, but not vice versa.

yes, that i know. but then, are they trying to say that the box is mpeg4 compliant while the transmission is mpeg2?

well yes it makes consumer feel like its more future proof since tata sky and dish tv will eventually move to mpeg 4 transmission,Tata sky currently has the most number of transponders so once they move to mpeg 4 they can give more channels.
