PC Peripherals Gskill RAM won't work at advertised speeds

Hey guys

So I recently got a 5600X+B550 combo from a forum user. I was planning to pair it with F4-3600C16D-16GVKC that I had lying around as 3600CL16 is sweet spot for ryzen's performance.

But for some reason the system just won't boot with XMP enabled with motherboard's "Memory Error" LED on. However the system is working fine if I set the RAM to 3200mhz.

Now I am wondering if the RAM has gone bad or the IMC on the CPU is just bad.

Looking for suggestions from TE experts.
 
DDR4 should come with XMP 2.0, which can have 2 profiles. For me, the first profile didn't work, but the second one did

Else you'll have to overclock manually; it could be an XMP (Intel) vs EXPO (AMD) issue

Already tried manually setting it to everything above 3200 (3266,3333,3400,3600) it just refuses to boot. Only booting at 3200mhz. I am inclining towards the fact that IMC is just too bad on this 5600X.

That is a possibility, but have you tried dialing in the OC frequency (3600 MHz) and timings manually? I have a R5 3600 paired with a couple of 3600 C18 Samsung Non B die sticks that are unstable over 3333 MHz with the XMP rated timings. I would also check your motherboard's compatibility with your particular RAM, since Ryzen adopted DDR4 later than Intel did, that platform has poorer compatibility with DDR4 with mostly only Samsung B die memories running at their XMP speeds out of the box. Otherwise, it calls for a lot of tinkering.
 
Have you tried "loose timings" in custom settings?

Meaning set speed to 3600 Mhz but increase the timing values for example if CAS latency of your RAM is 16 just set manually to higher value like 20 maybe...
