the hd 7870 is compared both to stock and a overclocked gtx 660 and the gtx 660 is better (or nearly as good in some cases). the gtx 660 then will be priced like the 7870 and no hope it will be priced like the hd7850...
i guess nvidia will launch some 650 ti card to compete against 7850

Maybe for current and immediate future needs but the lack of core over-clocking potential is a serious dampener and depending on future gaming engines and game design (stilted on heavy textures) the asymmetrical memory distribution might come to bite back.
