Started upgrading my music gear as well and thought I'd share my recent investment in a multi-effects unit - this one is special because it uses a nextgen DSP technology from ZOOM... can't wait to see what they've come up with this time around :)

Some feature highlights:

  • Sampling frequency: 96 kHz
  • A/D/A conversion: 24-bit
  • 32-bit processing for high quality effects
  • World's fastest patch change speed: 5 ms
  • Ultra low noise design
  • USB interface ensures low latency recording

Zoom G2.1U

Here's a link to the product page on the Zoom website.

I should get it this weekend and once I get a chance to play around, I'll post some sound samples for you guys next week :)

Guitarists on TE, I highly recommend this if you're looking for a state-of-the-art mult-effects pedal with a great price tag... it's about $170 in the US.

Hehe having used a Zoom 303, I can say Zoom pedals rock. This one looks much better :). The price is killer as well. What are you pairing the pedal with?

I think you mean Zoom 505... have that as well, but it's a toy compared to the Zoom 3030 and GFX8 that I have... will be replacing all my old pedals and pedalboards with this G2.1u if it lives up to the hype and demos I've heard on the web.

For practice, I'll be plugging the G2 directly into my Stranger NS30 combo... for recording, this will go to the M-Audio Black Box and then straight to my PC. No more live gigging due to lack of time, but if I do, it will be guitar > boss EQ > zoom g2.1u > 1 output to fender stack + 1 output to mixer.

^^Yeah 505 my bad... Messed up the numbers :P. totally out of touch with guitar tech these days since I left college.

Zoom makes good pedals. Uncle had a 505 some time back.

I'm personally using this setup :

Fender Stratocaster -> Line6 PODxt -> Ibanez Cube

P.S. I also have the Dunlop Cry Baby :ohyeah:

Btw, that price for the G2 is killer..

The PODs are all quality man, don't ever get rid of them... great for recording, but not the best for a stage. And sell me your cry-baby :D

BTW, noob question - dont most multi-effects pedals have a row of pedal switches for you to change between effects or "patches" as they call them ?

^ Oops, I dint frame my question the right way. I meant as in your new acquisition - there dont seem to be those switches for you to change between 'patches', so how do you change between effects? :)

Well I don't play on stage (no time) and don't record either.

Its just that I asked my uncle (In the US) for a Pedal and he brought this down ;)

I'm no great guiartist, but my uncle (The one here) is amazing. Plays most of the tracks note-to-note (he's a lead guitarist) but again no stage due to lack of time.

Which guitar(s) do you have Rio ?

Fender strat, a tansen and my main axe is a Jackson JS30, blood red in color :D

In the past, had a PMG with a floyd bridge, Squier strat and a tansen kelly (similar to Jackson's Kelly)... all sold.

American / Mexican Strat ? I wanted a American but ended up with a Mexican :P

Uncle has a Telecaster and a JS1000 (Which screeches :ohyeah:)

What kinda moozik do you play Rio ?

The strat is with my dad but I'm sure it's not American... uncle has a JS1000??? What music does he play to buy a JS1000 man?? :P Must be a die-hard Satch fan to buy that axe... I'm a classic rock to extreme metal guitarist.
