Not that i have anything against them, but day by day members for TE increase, and that means more birthdays day by day, if this isn't controlled pretty soon the whole chatterbits will be englufed in nothing but Happy birthdays.

it already started -

Mods can take this up in near future, but what i think should be done -

1. Create a single thread labelled Happy Birthday and sticky it on top in chatterbits, a mod can be appointed to edit the title everyday to all those who have their birthdays on that day, that way it will control the needless extra posts for each member and we can all wish them in one post in one thread.

OR

2. Just create a sub-forums under Chatterbits for all the Happy Birthdays.

^^ I agree 100% Actually the idea no. 2 is the one which makes more sense ! Just Create a sub-forum for Birthdays ! :)

I vote for the subforum.

Creating a SINGLE thread for birthdays isnt fun....some b'day threads are really fun to read..... no point in deleting them...

After careful consideration and taking into account all our members wishes, we the staff guided by Admins have arrived at this formula to sort out the BWT problem.

First to clarify :

We would not be able to create a separate sub-forum for just birthday's as it would not serve any purpose, folks don't go checking on their birthday threads after say few days. Also, there is no use archiving them for future as it would not help anyone including the birthday boy.

About creating a single thread - that would be doing injustice to the whole wishing process.

Solution :

So lets say we will allow "Birthday Threads" to be created just like now but with we are laying a guideline which says "Thread Would Be Deleted Anytime After 3 Days".

So that way, you guys have ample time to wish folks and the birthday boy has enough time to read all the wishes and reply if he wants to.

To those who disagree :

I know some of you want your birthday wishes to be recorded for posterity, all i can say to that is, don't worry in one years time we would wish you again ;)

or

you guys are free to back up those pages on you hard drive by d/l it from TE within 3 days.

-----------

P.S. - This guideline would come into effect from 3 days from time of making this post, so you guys have 3 days to backup all your "Birthday Wishes Threads" if you want to, after 3 days the Staff would start deleting All Old BWT's.

The thread was closed.

I thought of a small change.

You could close the thread after 3 days....sure.... But the thing is some people dont visit so often. Or maybe they had some problem due to which they could not access the thread(connection down, exams, work related , etc....)

What I suggest is you close the thread after the person has replied in the thread....

It would be a pity if the thread got deleted after 3 daysa nd the person never saw the thread.

^ Any no of days is not enuf in that case whats the guarantee he would log on say after 5 days, or a week and so on ....

So we cannot take into consideration all the if's and but's, we can only make a informed choice and our informed choice says Three Days Is Sufficient time for any BWT thread.

Our Member base is increasing, so we have to take that into account as well. We cannot archive BWT's anymore.

And we cannot have different rules for different folks, irrespective of the reason.

Remember we are not talking about closing threads, we are going to delete them.

---------

PS : Next time, instead of making continuation threads, just PM one of the GMods and we would do the needful. When we close a thread it means we have decided on a way forward and have taken into account all scenario's including what you have mentioned.
