as per our reviews WD models are good in terms of quality & low failure rates as compared to Seagate 7200.11/12 models. Also models from Hitachi & Fujitsu will also equally performs as above.
we can name the fastest 1-terabyte drive in all our tests. It is the WD RE3 (WD1002FBYS). This is the best buy if you prefer maximum performance. But if you don’t like its high price, you can take the WD Caviar Black (WD1001FALS) which is somewhat slower but costs much less. The Hitachi Deskstar E7K1000 (HDE721010SLA330) is third in terms of sheer speed.
Also note that Seagate India reduced its warranty on internal hard disks from 5 years to 3years from this month in India.!!Soon others will also follow..............
Seagate & WD both are good HDD. I have been using Seagate HDD from 2002 and i always stuck to it whenever i upgraded by RIG. Till now i never faced any issues with it. "Touch Wood"
However i just want to make a point that WD has a low failure rate when compared to Seagate.
In some of the models Seagate performed well than WD & vice versa. I dont think there is a comparison required. Its your ultimate choice on which drive to select.
WD black is a good performer, but after all the reviews I've gone through, it turns out that the Seagate 1TB and 500GB 7200.12 HDDs are among the fastest and best performing.
