Hi,
I have a dell laptop with hdmi port, no vga port.
I intended to connect it to a vga port of projector. So, I bought a HDMI to VGA cable from ebay.
But when i'm trying to connect it it does not work.
It detects the monitor in nvidia panel, but does not desplay on projector.
My HDMI port is working fine, as i have checked it with other hdmi TVs.
So, what are the possible solutions to my problem?

HDMI is digital. VGA is analog. A cable won't do any signal conversion and isn't going to work :p
You need a converter.

But, these cables are sold in market ,so they must be working somehow else they won't be available for sale..

you mean just like those 32gb pen drives being sold in karol bagh market a few years ago for Rs.500 :) it is very simple logic.digital to analog is not possible without a converter because digital is 0s & 1s but analog is wave form & to make a wave from various 0s & 1s requires quite a bit of mathematical functions hence the need for processing using a converter.
