Graphic Cards Hdr + Aa

I downloaded a farcry benchmarking utility (ver 1.4) from office (don't have a net connection in mumbai personally), and in the benchmark there were settings for AA and AF and HDR.. I kept AA at 4x and AF at 8x, everytime I enabled HDR (have farcry v1.32 installed with the HDR patch) AA turned off automatically. I remember nvidia having issues with this, but is there anyway to run with AA and HDR on???

PS - Watch this space for screenies too..(disbeliving wretches :P ), I didn't bring my pendrive with me today...

Nope not with Intel atleast unless its the fake hdr, i.e. fx10 hdr. With fp16 hdr it is impossible to run HDR + AA on Nvidia !
A little more info on running farcry with HDR on my new rig please? the only everybody says I don't have..:bleh:

No AA+HDR possible on NVIDIA. The hardware is incapable of doing it cos it seems the multisample buffers are used for HDR when FP16 is active. Its only possible on ATI X1x00 cards.

there is a patch for farcry for HDR and AA in nvidia card.... i have it but i don't remember from where i downloaded it from ..... so search for it maybe u can get it ....

^^That patch is beta 1.4 which does HDR+AA on ATI not NV. This is a hardware limitation... NV can't multisample R16G16B16A16 surfaces... as simple as that. No patch can fix it.

Edit: Forgot to add... ATI can't filter FP16 textures, NV can do filtering of the same. However no app really uses FP16 filtering cos its much more expensive than simply tone mapping it down to 8bits per channel and filtering it in 8 bits.

Yep contrary to what guru3d ppl are claiming HDR + AA isn't possible with the method that farcry uses :). Like chaos said its a hardware limitation and cannot be corrected via a patch/software. Anyways if vandal still wants to try out the patch here it is

But its worthless mind you.
Yep, downloading now...
@ Chaos >> gyanbaaj!! ;)
@ Anish >> joke master :P

In my farcry 1.32 version, there are some extra rendering modes, one is COLD, TROPICAL, CARTOON etc..etc. What do these modes do? Cold mode looks better than the actual default mode. Could anyone enlighten?

Those are the various rendering modes. All of them vary from each other. cartoon looks like cell shaded fc, cold is actually the most realistic, and so on. Give them all a try if you want to......

Yeah I played last night on the cold setting... Looks amazing must say, and doesn't slow down even @ ultra high settings.

The cold mode actually does give the surroundings a very chilly (er not mirchi wala) look :P
