I've been using HDTVs as PC monitors from last 8 years. Started with a 19 incher Samsung (1440p), moved to LG 32 inch (1080p) and currently using Samsung 40" LED (1080p). The refresh rate has always been 60Hz (in some games 59Hz was needed to get the correct resolution - don't know why). The response time has varied from 5 gtg to 8gtg. Text reading works fine.
