My bro is in Jaipur for some important work. He is using a local bsnl sim and can access net on his Nokia N78. But what he actually wants is to be able to surf on his lappy using the N78 as modem. Cust care guy told him to feed some manual settings but that didn't work.

Can anyone explain what all settings are required to surf on lappy using BSNL gprs (not 3G).

Cell : Nokia N78

OS on Lappy : Win XP prof. 32 bit

Nokia sw is duly installed on laptop.

Would appreciate some quick help :)

This is all BSNL website (link) has to say about manual gprs settings :

3. GPRS Setting :
It enables to browse any site on internet by Laptop or PC through handset or datacard having BSNL SIM. Charge on browsing will be implied.
Setting Name CelloneNorth_gprs_n
Access Point Name : gprsnorth.cellone.in

There is no need to manually set GPRS settings. Do as follows:-
*Goto Nokia PC suite's main window.
*Click on the third icon in the first line named "Connect to the internet".
*A window will open titled "One touch access- Connected to <your phone>"
*Click on the third icon in the bottom named "Configure..."
Your phone should be listed here as modem. Click next.
In the "Select your network operator" list type BSNL and then select the circle. Click OK. Now click "Connect". You should be able to connect to the internet.

@smAsh: already tried that mate, but still no net.

The network icon in the traybar says connected but there is no progress after the first few bytes of data transfer and sites do not open at all. No firewall issues as well.

Repped for your helpfulness :)
