Hey
My setup used to be a Core i7 920 proccy, MSI X58 Pro-E mobo, 6GB RAM and a NVidia GTX 460. Now, my proccy has gone kaput and is out of warranty. So I need a 1366 socket compatible CPU.
I've checked online and found a cheap second hand Xeon L5520 (approx INR 4000/-) which also apparently fits into the 1366 socket and has specs that seem to be just slightly lower than the much more expensive i7 920 (approx INR 9,000/- used and double that new).
My question is: is the Xeon an ok replacement for the 920 in what is essentially a gaming rig? I'm thinking of this mainly because of the significant price difference.
Budget is actually approx 7K.
Thanks for your help.
