As the topic says, my mom wants a light-weight notebook/laptop (I suggested netbook instead of laptop) for work purposes. Budget is Rs. 35,000. Need suggestions on which to buy and where to buy from :) I live in Mumbai. Thanks in advance :D

notebook = laptop.

Do you mean netbook?

Since it is for your mom, I suggest a regular 14" or 15" low spec laptop, the reason being that it is much more comfortable to type on and is easier on the eyes due to the relatively larger screen.

So, unless portability is required, a regular sized laptop would be good for home usage.

She already has an old Acer laptop which is working fine but she can't manage to carry it around for her presentations because its too heavy. Yeah, so portability is the main issue..

get a wind or eee
What is the eee and where can I buy them from?

What about Acer Aspire One and I think Asus has launched a netbook too right? Not that I have anything against MSI Wind, but just want to compare options before purchasing :)

The aspire one if the cheapest option. 9" version for around 15-15.5k with Linux. Just install Xp yourself ;)

Only thing is the 3 cell battery runs only 2-2.5 hrs (same as most laptops).

The E1000H is a good deal too, around 22.5k for 10"/6 cell version. 4 hrs + battery life.

I prefer both of these ove rthe MSI wind. The Wind doesnt have good support as such, and availability is an issue too :)

Thanks for that reply, helped a lot :)

By the way, if you value battery life, get the Asus E1000H 80Gb model instead of the 160Gb model. They pu in a bigger HDD but a smaller battery :P

So the 80Gb one has the better battery + cheaper too :)
