Help Me in Setting Up a Home WiFi Network

Please dont ignore this thread. I am desperate:(!

Hi! Please help me in setting up a home wifi network, through which all the components can share internet, files, and printer, involving the following components:

1.Desktop running Windows 7 Ultimate, has fixed line broadband with username and password, also connected to the printer via USB and connected to a wireless router(Huawei WA1003A)

2.Laptop running Windows 7 Professional with Wifi

3.Samsung Wave with Wifi and Allshare(dlna)

4.PS3 Slim with Wifi and dlna

All components of the network should be able to transfer or stream files from each other.

Also want to know how to protect my internet and files from others after setting up this network.

And is there anyway I can use internet on my laptop through wifi without switching on my desktop? It was possible in Windows xp but I am not able to set it up in Windows 7

And my desktop has a pinnacle tv tuner card, outputting through Windows Media Center. Can this live TV be streamed from desktop to laptop?

Does your internet connection have a pppoe login? you need this because you want to login via your router (without switching on your pc)

Setup a media center server on your main pc.

I don't think its possible to stream your tv content via your pc to your laptop
 
1 > Configure your router for Always on Internet. This ensures that you will be connected to the internet irrespective of whether your PC is on or not. Just switch on the router and you will be connected.

2> Make sure that DHCP is enabled in your router and all the devices that will connect thru it have "Assign IP address automatically" seleted in NIC properties.

3> For media sharing :
a> PS3 -> Run PS3 media server and set the proper NIC in PS3 media server.
b> Wave -> Search for some software that will enable media sharing.
c> Laptop -> You can access any file/ folder on the PC without sharing it by running \\<IP Address of PC>\<Drive letter>$

4> Stream wireless TV from PC : I dont exactly remember but i think that Nero had one such feature.
 
^Yes it has pppoe login. How do I setup a media center server on my pc? I dont think I can access internet via wifi on my phone without the desktop being switched on or can I? How to use internet on my phone when the computer is on? And on my PS3 I can see my laptop as a media server but cant find my desktop.
 
open your router's config page (by default should be 192.168.1.1, Username : admin, Password : password)
Then navigate thru the pages and find The Always on for internet. Select that and enter the username & password that you use to connect to the internet from your PC.
 
@hellgate: I need to login via pppoe normally. How do I enable always on internet? And how do I enable DHCP(I dont even know what it is).
My desktop doesnt show up in the ps3 but my laptop does. Wave already has allshare and I have allshare installed in my desktop. I will figure out how to transfer via that. Sorry for the ultra noob questions but I am overwhelmed by this.:ashamed::(:S

If it is too much pain to explain links showing how to go about it would be very helpful too:)

Where will I find my router config page? I went to devide manager but only found a LGE Virtual Modem and a gigabit network adapter.

P.S: Please dont get irritated with me:(
 
Usually by typing 192.168.1.1 in most of the routers, for me 192.168.2.1 as it is Belkin

For your modem try this http://192.168.1.1 in IE :) then give the UserName: admin and Password: password or admin

Type in the address bar of Firefox or Internet Explorer bro, thats it
 
Router is turned on right?? (Maybe it will sound funny lolz) Reset the Router buy pressing down the reset pin behind the Router, then if you have given any IP address for Local Area Lan means remove it and revert it back to obtain IP address automatically, then restart both the PC and Router. Now try again and see, sure it will get in :)

Even you can try in your Wave dude, it will go in :) in case of too much problem na, Connect your wave to the router then type the same address in Waves Dolphin Browser :P
 
^How do I connect my wave to the router. Before it used to connect to the router and internet used to function when desktop is on. Now it is able to detect the presence of the modem but unable to connect to it.

Also I am not able to change my Local Area Connection to Home Network. It is stuck as a Public Network

well your modem is mess up wrong ip address so try the modem hard reset using pin or pen on back side and try config the ip address again 192.168.1.1

if the problem not solve then u can contact any of t.e member that they can help u at your home

p.s even i have Huawei different type of modem even i try hard reset ip address and it does not work and i bought the new modem without any problem cause i don't like bsnl modem that it give crap Chinese firmware stuff :P

@Arun.P: I tried that already. Not working.

The problem is that everything used to work before- I could access the desktop internet on my laptop, phone and ps3 via wifi and I could share files between them all through a home network. But now nothing is being possible, and my Local Area Connection is stuck as Public.
 
^ can to test another modem from your friend or sent the modem back to bsnl and sort the problem due to fail to config the ip address and they will replacement the new modem soon asap

also how hard old is your modem and condition use p.s the bsnl modem has lot of issue due to bad firmware and it is Chinese stuff cause i cannot config the modem and it work only on Bridge Mode flawless and i dont understand the new issue about the modem fault :|
 
I guess it should least more than 2 years old, as am too having the same modem :) its almost 3 years completed :) now adapter problem came :(
