Dear friends, wish you all a very happy 2006.:hap2:

I am planning to buy a 160 GB SATA HDD and a Benq1640 DVD Writer. I am thinking of getting a Seagate drive for which my vendor is quoting a price of 4.5K. He is asking 2.9K for the DVD writer.

Are these prices OK?

Also, I hope that I have chosen decent models. Regarding HDD, I am more concerned about reliability than speed. I see a lot of Hitachi fans in this site but not sure who sells it in NP, Delhi. Atleast my vendor was not very enthusiastic about it.

Please let me know your opinions. TY

I got my Segate 7200.9 160GB SATA for 4300Rs and my Benq DW1640 White for 2850Rs.
Lamington Road , Mumbai.

Check the hdd is 7200.9 and not 7200.8 its written on the HDD.
before you buy , there were some problems with 7800.8

Cyberstar Infocom - 5162 9979
Neoteric - 2643 3549

not very enthusiastic = not much commission :)

Today, i bought Benq DW 1640 (White) Rs.2800 ( but you can get it for Rs.2750 if you bargain i think)

Thanks for the help!! I really appreciate this.

Buying the BenQ for sure. Let me look around a bit more for the HDD. Hitachi and Seagate 7200.9 are mu top two choices.
