CPU/Mobo Help!! PC boots with 1 RAM but not with 2, what could be wrong?

My PC has 2X2 GB DDR2 RAM and 2 RAM slots.

This started happening a few days ago. If i plug both the ram in the mobo, it boots up with no output on display but I can hear all the fans running. But if i use one of the RAM then it works fine.

My system was running fine for 4 years before this problem in dual channel mode.

I'm guessing you've tried plugging in both ram sticks one by one and booting the system?

Either that stick of RAM which you removing have gone bad or the slot in which you putting RAM causes this issue have got bad.

Clean both ram's connecting pins and ram slots with a cotton and rubbing alcohol.

Update:
Both slot work fine and one RAM stick has gone bad The PC boots fine with the other RAM alone.

Now since I got my RAM issue worked out I installed my 9800GT back with only the working RAM installed. It gives a single beep after a while and nothing on the display. Rest of the computer boots as in fans get fired up .
