Help required: stuck in lifting tree GOW 3

I got a new Ps3 GOW 3 edition console. I am not able to lift the tree in the Gaia opening scene.I pressed the R2 button then rapidly circle button as told in many forums but Kartos doesn't lift the tree and throw it. I am doing sopmething wrong or is this a glitch with the game.

I was told GOW 3 is one of the best games for PS3 and I am disappointed with the game. They have to make controls much easier. I have been trying this for the past 1 1/2 hrs.

There is no glitch as such u mentioned.

Try to read the manual for proper controls, you are surely doing something wrong here.

This is what you have to do - "Interact with R1 and tap Circle to lift it out of the way."

L1 - Block/Parry

L2 - Use Item

R1 - Interact/Grapple

R2 - Magic attack

Once he got hold of the tree.. you need to press the circle button as fast as you can and as many times as you can...for many seconds

I also struggled at that point...and finally laid the control down and started pressing the circle button madly with out even looking at the screen

^i don't think so there was much effort into button mashing....tap circle and its done :S

Thanks guys. I was able to get past this obstruction. Had to press the circle button many times continuously for a few seconds as mahistuffs said. I think I need to get used to controller. I was pressing the right buttons but had to do it for a longer time.

^ I guess u can release the R1 button after the Circle button mashing starts

I guess you are right!! that's one reason i was hesitant to get GOW3:S

I wonder what will you guys do in Titan mode.

^seriously :rofl: I have started off in TITAN MODE already..left it after finishing Poseidon

Will get back to it though after RDR

^you finish the game @ any difficulty it unlocks the TITAN mode :bleh:

The CHAOS mode is real bad ass. The Titan mode is rather too simple. Once you move to Chaos, the difficulty level scales up like anything. I still wish I could complete the game on Chaos but I sold my disc a little too soon

FInally got past the tree(don't know how).Since then it hasn't been too rough so far. Will come for help if i hit a bump again.
