Hello everyone,
I'm currently using a DLink 2750U as modem + router and while it works great, the range does not extend to my parents' bedroom. My mother has to use her laptop in the hall to connect but it gets awfully hot there.
Is there anything I can do to extend the wireless range? I read about using another wireless router as a repeater but the only other one I have lying around is a Linksys WRT54 version 7 (The only version which seems unsupported by DD-WRT). I'm also quite apprehensive about flashing firmware on any of my routers as I haven't done it before. I'd rather go out and spend money on a new product if it's guaranteed to work. So far my options seem to be:-
1. Buying another wi-fi router which I can use as a repeater. Are there any particular models that have this feature out of the box?
2. Buying a range extender - I'm unable to find these online.
3. Get my hands dirty with custom firmware but I'd rather avoid the hassle. My home network is working fine for the most part (Brother's laptop, PS3, phones connect properly) and I don't want to mess with it.
I'm looking for something that's as plug and play as it gets. Budget isn't too much of a problem. Thanks in advance.
