My graphic card sapphire x1800xt 256MB is going more than 100 c when i run ATI tool scan for artifacts test.My Mobo is Asus p5ld2 Vm se and PSU is powerone 640W(got today from funky).I dont know why it is happening .I overided the temps with ati tool and cabinet is kept opened even though it is idealing at 75C and at load keeps on increasing. Please any one help me getting rid of these temps.

put a fan in front of the plastic shroud where the copper heatsink is visible. I put a fan over there and it instantly dropped my load temps from 87-88 to 78-79 loaded and from 53-54 idle to 48-49 idle. Mind you mine is a hotter card than yours.

my old Sapphire X1800XT 512MB never used to cross 82C at load from the day I got it till the day I left it & I never used extra fans then how can his Sapphire X1800XT 256MB reach 100C+ at load?

Did you checked the dust? i can't be so high.

Take the pc out of the oven :D

You may consider something from Arctic Cooling...

Also remove the HS and apply Artic Silver 5 (a great thermal compound)

do the following:

1)Put a fan blowing on the card. Now see the load temps. If they do drop to temps around 85-90 then you are fine.

2)If that doesnt work, take the card out and clean it. Apply AS5 on the core as well as on the memory. This should hopefully reduce the temps.

3)If even that doest work then increase the speed of the fan of the card from the ATI tool.

Try all this and then report back

put a fan on urs vcard . i had nvidia 6200 going up to 70deg c but when i installed a fan on its heatsink my temp never goes above 37 deg c, great na . and i dont have any prob in overclocking with this temp also . try it
