CPU/Mobo High mobo and gpu screwed by age old hardware friend..

As title says, list of hardware given:
Gigabyte motherboard (GA 990fxa - ud5) rev 3.0 with amd processor - Dead
Graphic card 2 = Geforce 650 Ti Boost - Dead

A close hardware friend burnt this devices while switching motherboard

He was replacing (taking to repair) existing motherboard and connected mobo and gpu mentioned in first post.
Suddenly there was burning smell and he turned off power supply.
Both the hardware peripheral got burnt.
Took same for repair but was not possible both are dead.

What do u suggest I should do in this case?

Sue your friend and ask him to compensate by giving you a Z690+12900 KS.

Seems like he didn't do it intentionally nor did he or you knew that this would happen.

Please make clear what are you looking for here... Clearly hardware of this age isn't much worth anyways. Also what was your friend doing with your hardware? If you trusted him and knowingly handed him those for whatsoever reason, you are the one responsible for it not him unless otherwise clearly communicated and agreed upon. It will be unethical for you to take advantage of this situation and get some cash out of him if that's your intention here.

If that's not the case forget about it, cut your losses and move on. Nothing can be done here. Also don't hand over stuff to friends/relatives if you can't take a loss. Let that be a lesson.

But... what the hell is a "hardware friend"? Is this an acquaintance you only deal with for hardware? Or do you mean this is a real person and you have other "software friends"?

Alrite, He is a trusted guy and I have been calling him for all my hardware requirements over a decade now.
Thanks for suggestion, will let go dead peripherals..
