Can it be even called a deal??
usually RMA takes 1.5k and add that to the price.

no need for any of these mess.
Brand new sapphire 4870 costs just 8.8k+tax now with full 3 yrs Indian warranty.
Thats double neat price for a quality card, and no need for any bulk orders:bleh:

Stay away from that 4870 if you're planning to use the heatsink bundled with it! I'd purchased the same during Feb '09, close to a month of usage and the fan conked off without any dust clogging or other symptoms. The heatsink is nothing but a piece of junk metal.

I never knew the fan stopped working so long as the GPU heated up and shut down by itself a couple of times. Since the Artic Cooling S1 rev. 2 was just a mail away, I used a temporary setup - removed the conked fan, fixed a 60mm NMB fan using dual-sided tape and used it for close to a week so long as the new HS turned up.

I'd e-mailed HIS and they were prompt enough to offer a replacement/RMA although they wanted me to send the card to the US. I did not want to send it anyway. Just another hassle. Card's a good OC'er though. If you're willing to swap the heatsink, nothing like it.

The conked off fan is just a 1 off case with a bad fan for sure....what does it oc like on the core & mem? I m planning to get it for a friend :)

dunno why the price cuts didnt affect the 4870 1GB much. Just some 500 bucks.

But price of 4870 512 was down by more than 2k !

Same is the case with 4850 512 and 1GB. Price cut of 2k+.

We might see 4870 1GB price cut reflecting soon, maybe within a week itself.

I'm not sure about the clocks using the stock cooler (crappy shit!) but from what I can recollect it did 850/1000 on core/mem using the Artic Cooling S1 and a 120mm cheap-ass Amigo 120mm fan. 2 92mm fans should give an equally good or a better result I reckon.

Another point to be noted is that the AC S1 rev. 2 package did not have the VRM heatsinks for the card. It did bundle few which were supposed to be sticked onto those tiny modules but just wont stick so I ended up using the stock VRM cooler that was bundled with the card.

Again, this's a great deal. Indian prices should be 10k + shipping for the 1GB card. People willing to take a risk considering RMA expenses can safely go with this one. :)
