How can I copy the same file into several folders?

I need to put copies of one file into several (40+) folders. Is there any way (e.g. batch file) to do this automatically, instead of manually having to do it?

(The reason why I want to do it is immaterial, but if you are interested, it's posted here.)
 
batch file means DOS commandline or winxp command line... For long file & directory names in windows xp use a vbscript file. Convenient for drag & drop operations.. First selection could mean the file to be copied and rest selected with Ctrl key could mean any number of destination directories...
