How do Torrent uploaders "EARN"

This been on my mind for long time. How do they earn money or they are simply sharing with the mantra "Sharing is Caring"

just donation? bc many uploaders didnt ask for donation.
some suggest to visit their website which the earn by ad revenue and traffic.

AFAIK only the big groups have their own websites, I haven't come across a single solo uploader who has one.
 
Most dont. Its not really a job.

Its the same reason why someone on TE will sit down and write a 3 paragraph reply to a post on why your PC isnt booting. Its a mixture of things. A sense of community, sharing something you are passionate about with someone else who might be into the same stuff, helping out others with your skills etc etc.
 
It is what originally the net was supposed to be, before corporate honchos monetized it. The most we all can do: seed back as much as we can, if $$$$ donating is not an option. My signature shows three ways to do this.

Yes precisely, that's what differentiates us (human beings) from machines or robots.
 
That's a broad question, what are you asking exactly ?
The uploaders on trackers or the scene groups that release the files in the first place ?
I was part of a scene group that ripped mp3's once upon a time :p
 
You get no guaranteed income from this and nobody site and keeps monitoring his uploads and ticks.
Majorly its like just upload and forget about it unless you get a direct pm or mail that no seeders or etc. You reply then if you are willing to help you may simply ignore.
Most of the genuine people are members of limited forum where the fee is charged for premium stuff and invite only free registration. Thus they keep it tight and sweet with ltd. but quality stuffs.

They don't earn any money afaik. Only the sites make some revenue from the ads (auto-ads if you dont have an adblocker) which i believe is used for the site maintenance.
So the uploaders also do it for the points (which probably give them some personal sense of achievements).
