How much time u spend in front of ur puter everyday?

So guys, how much time u spend in front of ur computer? If u are working, then add those hours as well..

Its just a survey as i need to know the average usage pattern...thing is, i have to spend close to 14 hours in front of a computer on a daily basis..(barring 3 hours of commute and around 6 hours of sleep and add 1 more hour for other routine things we all have to do..:p) rest of the time, i'm always in front of my computer..be at work or home..

now how bad it is for the body? I'm specifically concerned about neck and spine..the last thing i wud like to have is spondylitis...:ashamed: and though i'm fairly thin at 58 kgs @ 5.11 ft...i'm worried what wud such a lifestyle have an impact in the long run..:(

I know many of u guys too have to face the same scenario...so what do u guys do to take care of ur health? Especially, are u guys not concerned about spondylitis? Is thr any thing u guys do to prevent it? :ashamed:

^ alright, sued u..now i claim ur puter in damages..:bleh:

On a serious note, arent u worried about the consequences? You are only 17 rit now, but still, such things might have crossed ur mind sometimes, rite? :p Do u get enuf exercise to negate the ill effects of those long hours? :p

Urr, well, when I have absolutely nothing to do, I spend around 15 hrs infront of the puter, otherwise, when I have a busy day, then it's more like 3-4 ... Depends ... Actually, more like 10hrs on an average ...

As for the exercise bit, I play football every alternate day, weigh 50kilos, eat green vegetables, drink a fair bit of beer, watch a fairly decent amount of porn.

So yeah, I'm covered.

Nice workaround....

well if i take out the office time then it is 4-5 hours a day... otherwise you can make it 13 hours :p
i am (glad to say) neither overweight nor underweight :)
used to sit around 15 hours while i used to do nothing :eek:hyeah:

Guys, but u are not answering the bigger question...its not just to know the hours u spend in front of ur computer, but more about the steps u take to counter the ill effects of sitting for such long hours...

Arent u guys worried about ur neck and spine and the overall implication of such a stagnant lifestyle on ur health? :S

15hrs flat everyday without fail :p

i use my PC while lying down on a bed with a water mattress so no strains & i got a LCD so no eye strain either :D

been doing 15-18 hours for a long time now ..and had severe shoulder pains one time ..which took me to a physio....who treated me for a week....i still have recurrence of it but not that bad ...thing is to take breaks and exercise in any form is a must :)

9 hours sitting up, 3 hours lying down, 6 hours sleeping in front of the comp

never had any health probs as i am active with sports also

once my wrist started aching, so i had my mouse at office changed and worked onehanded for 2 weeks

good posture is important so i consciously try to maintain a comfy position

Today, i have an off, n it has gone over the top for me..:( Been sitting here since yesterday evening.. Dinner n all right on my puter table.. The guilt of not doing much to get my bum off the chair is there, but i dont know how to counter the situation..

@kippu : What kind of exercise is advisable? N what do u do? :p Btw, will cycling help? Cos thts the only thing i can do..i cant imagine myself at the gym..:p

about 10-12 for me

out of a 9.5 hour work day i sit for about 7.5-8 in front of the PC at office, rest of the time for tea/lunch/frustation calming breaks :p

1.5-2 hours at home for TF2/other gaming

1 hour for Net @ home

so about 11 hours, but a few months ago i actually did 14 hrs per day at office with minimal (only 30 min max) of break time.... all in front of the PC... came very close to becoming a deranged serial killer...

I do manage to fit in an early morning/ night walk everyday tho...

My record in 18:45 hours in the office - 6am to 0:45 the next day with about 45min in breaks :p
