How to convert Video files to dvd format ?

Hi Guyz ,

So yesterday I got myself a benq 1650 dvd burner ! Now I was hoping to burn all my LOST video files to a dvd.:D . Now I have 15 episodes of LOST and each epi is 350 mb in avi format. so well thinking that I cud burn 13 episodes in a single dvd :clap: I started nero 6. I clicked on the option of making a dvd video , then I added my first episode of 350 mb hoping everything wud go right ! But then I got a SHOCK , that 350 mb episode was now converted to the dvd format and its size now was 2GB :S :S :S :S :ashamed: .

Maybe nero increased its quality but man..... 2gb:huh: ? Look I dont want the quality to be inproved as the episodes r already HDTV rips. Just tell me a way to burn atleast 10 episodes in a single dvd without comprimising any quality. Please. Also the dvd shud run on all the dvd players. ! Please Reply fast , I wanna burn those files very urgently !:) :(
 
DVD burning of video types can be done in various modes (depending on what the buring app can handle ) the highest quality of video which can be written on a DVD as i know is 60 minutes with max resoultion & stuff...
i guess NERO handles 4 or 5 modes...the 5th mode where the resolution is equivalent of that of a VCD & sound quality can be reduced to 'stereo' mode (default being Dolby 5.1 ) { in Nero 7 Premium} burning upto ~250~minutes of video....try messing arnd with the options...u'll get to know..;)

Using Nero 6 I got the last 12 episodes of Friends onto one DVD - it was a tight sqeeze and the quality was low but I did get it too fit :clap:

You have to select Make a Movie in Nero Vision then select your AVI's - from the video options on the bottom of screen you have to select the Quality setting as Custom and then keep reducing the Bit Rate till all the AVI fit on DVD - believe me the quality will be quite BAD :(

I have one more software Intervideo DVD Copy and here I select all the AVI files I want to convert to DVD and click on a button "fit on one DVD" and this software does all the settings automatically. I think the video quality of this is better then Nero - but it takes hours to complete. :(
 
dude.. if u got a video player compatible wid the DivX codecs.. i think u can try to burn a data DVD .. or not ..?? (i myself am a bit shady abt this .. bt jst a suggestion .. )
 
even i use Nerovision....just select the playback settings to Super long play...u can fit in more...i burned 3 700mb movies onto one DVD without any noticable quality diffrence
 
Ok Thanx for the suggestions , but one more thing if burn it as a data disk , will there be any quality loss ? I mean sure then it ain't Gonna run on a dvd player but atleaset I will be able to fit 13 episodes on a single dvd ! What do u guyz suggest ??
 
data dvd all the way,get a mpeg4 dvd player,shd come in under 4k

convertin to dvd and 13 files in one dvd will jus scerw the quality to worse than vcd

burnin as data dvd wit the files as they are will result in no quality loss
 
Yep get a divx player, converting from a lossy format to dvd format will worsen quality. Either burn them as avi's in case you have a mpeg4 player or you'll need to reduce quality to fit all the episodes on a single dvd.
 
Now I Know why one Guy was selling LOST Season 1 in 7 DVD !:S :S Then I laughed at him, Thinking I wud burn the whole season in just 2 dvd's !:P
