How to get 802.11n speeds between two laptops

ok there are two laptops acer 5740g and acer 5740g(atheros AR5B93) both support 802.11n

but using adhoc/virtual router/connectify
we get maximum speeds upto like 3-4 MB/s only..

how to get upto 15MB/s speeds ?? as 802.11n support upto 300mbps speeds..

P.S :- my friend had sony vaio laptop(which is now lost) and my acer 5740g (atheros AR5B93), i used connectify once and when
he copied movies he was getting speeds aroung 17-18MB/s ..it means these speeds are possible..

but since that vaio laptop is no more, i cant see what did this..i tried connectify with dell, other vaios, asus,hp,etc and many laptops
but cant get speeds above 3-4MB/s i.e 54mbps..

make sure both are in n modes and the card settings for both shld be as same as possible. Normally u should get the speeds .... check for firewall and antivirus settings, in one lappy if it is enabled, it may be scanning the traffic. Try Channel Bonding if strength is good. Use WPA2/AES and Enable WMM

thanks for the help , i tried forcing both the cards into n modes via device manager , both on same settings and aes , didn't work ..

what is the wireless multimedia extensions ?? how to enable that ?

LOL, you wont get n speeds at all even if your tried your best. These are due to several factors

1. 300Mbps is the max theoretical speeds! IF you dont have interference, etc other issues like obstructions, etc, expect at least 250Mbps.

Also, each frame sent has some overhead, however minor it is.

2. To get n speeds, you will need laptops with a good network chip and antenna config of 2x2 MIMO at the very least.

dude i had already got 17-18 MB/sec with my laptop and the lost vaio laptop ..
cant get it with other laptops , so i dont know what settings did this ..

and 250mbps will be like 27 MB/s
17-18 MB/s = 150mbps , so i had got the half speed which is practical not theoretical ..
