How to increase the load of a website ?

hey,
Am doin my final year proj on performance analysis of an online reservation system which is designed using AJAX. We hav now hosted the site and working on performance analysis.Is there a way as such to increase the load of the site by increasing the total number of users accessing the site at a time , say 1000 users ... please help me out...
