How to measure the performance of a WEBSITE ????

hey all,
i need a help from u ppl out there... :huh: how can v measure the performance of the website ? ? for example v can use response time , bandwidth used as certain measures.. :huh: is ther any other way to measure the speed n accuracy of a website ??? please help...

I would say first you should decide on what do you mean by performance!! For a user's perspective it can mean many things like:

1. Usability : The ease of use incl. design and layout

2. Performance: The load the website can take (1000 users, 20000 users!!, no. of transactions possible simultaneously)-- If you asked for this u can use a load testing tool like Grinder or Load Runner

3. Features: e.g Google search vs. Yahoo search!(which is better)

4. Bugs: Ah.. just a min are u sure u found 1,191,235 hits and not a few less or more (can i confirm that?)

Accordingly, u have to use the particular tool or may be a survey to get the results

And obviously there can be more parameters like security on which a website "performance" can be tested
