According to a post over at Engadget, HP is also preparing an Eee PC killer, but with much more class just as we would expect from HP. According to Engadget they have no reason to doubt the authenticity of the pictures they got, so this one might be closer than expected.

The HP Compaq 2133 features a bigger 8.9 inch screen which is scratch resistant and has a resolution of 1366x766 pixels (WXGA). It will also come with an ExpressCard/54 slot, Wireless LAN, a keyboard that is nearly full-sized (95% of a full keyboard) and SSD as an option. All of this will be packed into an anodized aluminum chassis weighing around 1.13kg.

It isn't strange that HP decided to take the same road that all other notebook manufactures have taken after the Asus Eee PC mania. If anything it looks sturdier than Asus' little thing, and the screen is a more reasonable size to make this a great ultra portable solution.

HP's UMPC 2133 revealed - Engadget

It looks like they've just lifted the idea and made their own clone. They could've gone with a bigger screen and lost the speakers.

8.9 inch?? That is not exactly ultraportable. The overall size must be much more.

Ooh...and the main thing. They'd better offer SSD or else it would just not be worth it.

If HP prices this thing wrongly, it will most likely end up as a failure just like the Ipod killers. Knowing HP, they are not gonna sell this thing cheap and I already feel that their effort is doomed.
