should i buy the i5 2500k right now or wait for i5-3570k to be released at the end of the month. Also my budget is tight and strictly not increaseable.

Sir if you're ready to wait till june then you can go for ivy bridge but if you're gonna do an urgent purchase then you can go for-

i5 2500K-12.5k

MSI Z68A-G45-B3-8.5k

Gskill Ripjaws X 2X4gb 1600mhz-3.5k

Amd HD7750-6.5[I'd suggest you to get this gpu to play the games you've mentioned at full hd]

Seasonic S12ii 430W-3k[There's no need to go for 600W psu if you're not gonna add 10k gpu,so this will suffice]

Getting a new gpu is upto you,i've suggested the ocing rig you want.

Jakob, Can't we go for some z68 mobo than this MSI.

Go for the ASUS P8Z68-M PRO ~9800/-, hope this helps, Cheers!!

For strictly gaming purposes and over-clockability, this is what I will recommend --

Intel Core i5 2500k~12900/- + Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO ~2400/- [do not over-clock on the stock cooler]

ASUS P8Z68M-PRO ~9800/-

G.Skill RIPJAWS 4GB x2 ~3400/-

AMD HD 7750 OR GTX 550Ti ~6500/- OR 7500/-

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB ~5500/- [OR buy a second hand one from the TE market place to save some cash]

Samsung / LG OEM DVD drive ~1000/-

NZXT Gamma ~2400/-

Seasonic S12II 520W ~3700/- [you are over-clocking and will require some breathing space for the same purpose and higher power draw of the over-clocked components.

Hope this helps, Cheers!!

I have a Seagate 500 gb barracuda 7200.12 and western digital caviar green 500 gb hdd.

I have light scribe and LG dvd rw drives. So will my present psu suffice this. Or should I upgrade it.

Thanks for your reply i just bought a cooler master GX 450w. would it be enough to support my hardware and an amd hd 7750.

It should be able to take on your RIG, but you will have to cap your over-clocks to a certain limit.

How much did it cost you?

I think a minimum of HD7850 for the GPU side should be set

He is going to play GRID and Civilization IV on a 19" screen for now, I think the GTX 560 [non-Ti] will be enough for even if he upgrades to a 24" screen in a year or so.

Let use leave it to the OP whether he deems it necessary to invest in a HD 7850 or similar class card.

I was just pointing out, upgrading to the new 28nm tech would be more wise a descision. Better power consumption, thermals, huge OC. Heck even the HD7770 is a great car for OP's requirements then

True but with a GX 450W he is really stretching his limits beyond his ken [with anything more powerful than a HD 6850], also he plans to over-clock.

^^ the HD7770 is half power as HD6850 I guess. The GX450W will laugh at it

3/4 quarter power draw as compared to the HD 6850 and a long drop from the latter's stellar performance. Sure the GX 450W will alugh at it, it might even smirk with the HD 6850 on its shoulder.

The issue was you wanted the OP to get the HD 7850 2GB, but then the GX 450W will be stretched to the bone and the entire set-up will be precarious.

Above all this OP wants to dabble in light --> moderate over-clocking, thats it the GX 450 is ready to faint in my views. Cheers!!

not

Thank you all for your reply. I am not going to overclock it for a year so I think the psu will be enough for now. Also I can't upgrade my graphics card until next January. So I think my budget is enough for now. I ordered a Intel Core I 5 2500k for 12.5k and bought a GX 450W for 3k so I should buy a mobo and ram for 10-12k. Any advices because I think Asus is out of my budget. Thanks.

But the HD7850 consumes as much power as the HD6850, making both these solutions equal in power talk. And overclocking a HD7850 will lead to a lesser increase in power draw than HD6850 thanks to smaller and more efficient 28nm tech

Well said but all the HD 7850's tested till now were AMD stock cards, which were based on the HD 7870 PCB, let us wait for the verdict on custom cards done by the individual board designers [HIS, Sapphire, MSi] and their performance vis-a-vis GTX 660Ti and equivalent cards.

Just my views on the topic, Cheers!!

when the amd 7870 cards have been tested and benchmarked at anandtech and other forums for many things including power consumption

how is it other board manufacturers are going to increase its power consumption

Who was talking about HD 7870, we are talking about the HD 7850 and for proof please read here -- http://www.techpower...HD_7870/30.html

HD 7850
  • CCC Overdrive limits too low
  • Probably no software voltage control on retail boards
  • Noise levels a tad bit high
  • Reviewed card is based on HD 7870, retail will be a lower-cost design

and here --

http://www.legitrevi...article/1863/2/

AMD sent over both the Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition and Radeon HD 7850 reference design cards. Both cards are virtually identical with the exception of the Radeon HD 7850 as it has just a single 6-pin power connector on the top. AMD informed us that the Radeon HD 7850 that they sent us would never be sold as board makers would be using shorter 8.25-inch PCBs and custom GPU coolers.

Hope this clarifies the issue. Cheers!!
