As is visible in pic, my i5 750 is stuck on the 9x multiplier even when fully loaded w/o any temp issues.

Had a no POST situation (only beeps) a few weeks ago, had removed the RAM and PC was working fine though slow. Attributed slowness to less RAM. Now both RAM's are working again, but the multiplier is stuck.

Troubleshooting steps tried:

Recheck power options
Reset BIOS defaults
Remove BIOS battery for 30 min
Force multiplier in BIOS (no option to set explicit multiplier), disabled all power saving features

Config:

  • i5 750
  • DP55WB desktop motherboard.
  • 4GB DDR3 RAM
  • PSU: Corsair Vx450w
  • GPU: MSI ATI 5770 HAWK

Any idea whats going on and how it can be fixed? Or atleast which is the messed up component? I am guessing it could be the processor, M/B or even PSU...

I have this thread in superuser also, let me know if its allowed to post the link here.. ppl can copy their answer there if they like to maintain points on SU
