Another TLD bites the dust
It looks like the ICANN board has voted against the proposed .XXX top level domain, for the third time. The domain is proposed to offset the flood of pornography websites on the .COM TLD, confining new pornographic registrations to the .XXX domain. The latest proposal made by two US senators was supposed to help parents shield their children from pornographic material. The proposal was struck down with a 9 to 5 vote. Details on the vote are scarce at the moment, though ICANN states they’ll provide additional details later in the week.
