Hi peeps.

Here is a deal.
If you are buying 8600GT thinking you will get full HD experience in your HTPC or home pc then you need to pay attention.

NOT ALL CARD MANUFACTURERS ARE SELLING 8600 GT WITH CRYPTO CHIP WHICH IS REQUIRED TO MAKE THIS CARD HDCP COMPLIANT.

In India we have option of XFX, POV as of now.

Out of these three XFX is NOT HDCP. Not even XXX edition.

Only POV 8600GT is HDPC ready. That explains why it is priced 500 bucks more than XFX.
So better spend 500 bucks more and get POV which will guarantee the full HD experience if and when you upgrade to HD display.
Cheers.

Excellent piece of info.:hap2:
Can't rep you.:@

Well ya. What if you get a decent PC HD DVD drive at decent price 6 months down?

And its not that this is total VFM card. Its mainstream card and when al cheapo onboard video solution these days are HDCP ready why not a 9k card?

And if you are buying and you have a option you better opt for the future proofing as much as you can. Its just 500 bucks now ;)

guys....stay away from HDCP...its sucks...and dont make ur PCs DRM infected!!!
lol HDCP does not harm or restrict your pc in any way dude.
If you dont play any DRM managed content then no issues. You still have HDPC ready card whenever you want to use it.
And like it or not, HDCP will be needed for playing HD DVD and Blue Ray content at its full glory unless someone finds practical way around it.

AnyDVD HD comes with same functionality as AnyDVD, but with additional features for full HD-DVD (High Definition DVD) and Blu-Ray support, including decryption of HD-DVD & Blu-Ray movie discs.

Allows you to watch movies over a digital display connection, without HDCP compliant graphics card and HDCP compliant display. No need to buy an expensive monitor. Sweet!

Every HDCP card that people buy will allow content creators to gain confidence and release DRM-protected movies only!! Also a small tax of those cards goes to the standard body and protection creators!! So thats the reason I said... that people should realize HDCP sucks!!

It still does not solve the problem of able to get full HD 1080P resolution.

Go onto Doom9 forum and read some of the posts. People are having nightmare playing back their HD DVDs with anydvd on non HDCP hardware.

Those who were able to get it running are getting downscaled output.

@sunbiz : soon you wont even have an option, all upcoming graphic cards are gona be HDCP ready. That includes entire ATI and NV lineup.

Not buying this card wont do much other than just hitting yourself in leg by not buying a feature you may want to use in the future.

Its there and soon it wont be optional. So what are u gona do? keep using whatever non HDCP card u have for your life???
