The government is considering various proposals including shutting petrol pumps in the night to taper fuel demand as it looks at ways to cut the massive oil import bill, Oil Minister M Veerappa Moily said today, drawing a sharp reaction from BJP.

"There are various options and ideas that have been floated. Shutting petrol pumps during night is one of them. But we have not decided. It is just a proposal," Moily told PTI from Bangalore.

His ministry plans to launch a massive fuel conservation drive from September 16 to cut fuel demand by 3 per cent and save an estimated Rs 16,000 crore or USD 2.5 billion in forex outgo.

This government is most sick. So fcuk decision making. There will be riots if they employ such stupid moves. Hope someone kills the people in this government.

On a side note can anyone tell me how to register for voter id. I want to get one and vote next time only so I can vote AGAINST these a$$holes.

Why these f@ggots can't think of improving public transport, distributing CNG in better manner which can reduce imports. And promote research through top institutes for new types of fuel?

Next move will be rationing fuel probably. They auto sector along with jobs etc will die more free people for riots will be there.

Crime and corruptions happens now and then in india,people talk about it for a couple of days,weeks and month and the chapter is closed

I think goverment should make mandatory for politician that, where ever they go, no matter in Naxal area, no matter whoever he is let it be President, PM, CM, MLA MP,

they shouldn't be allowed to take more than 2-3 vehicles in their convoy. I think this will surely save lots of money from govt.pocket as well as in foreign reserve.

I really feel sad when i see my local MP, who generally travel in convoy of 40-45 vehicles in name of security, and our lovely CM, who travel with 8-9 same looking safari, and other 60-70 staff and security personnel vehicles.

Because that ll mean improving the roads and the contractors who pay the bribe in lakhs will not be paying them for a long time.
Pray tell, how will these ministers then purchase the articles from their wives' shopping list..

They get the fuel for free and subsidized ration. They indulge in illegal construction on the govt provided bunglows, Their family gets the protection, house has free electricity, free internet connection at super fast speeds and no download limits, and ofc the laptops are provided for free too.. All this when they dont know how to operate the damn device beyond ms office.

As @asingh rightly said, the real rockstars that they are.. Why would they want to shoot themselves in the foot? Else they would have gotten the black money stowed away in Swiss banks. OR get that damn telgi to spit out who was behind the scam.

I too would like to see some riots and the polity be dragged and beaten with footwears in full public view BY the public.

I would say to vote for any party which does not play vote bank politics. All this shit in the name of votebank, disguised as the 'idea of some ex-PM'. Neither is the BJP trying to stop the bill, when it can do that and show that it can rise to being good for the nation.
 
How about enforcing the rule 49-O and enforcing the presidents rule and not voting anyone in particular?
The only drawback is the el presidente is backed by the oldest 'poly''ticks'.

Who will support it?
How will they support it?
How will YOU support it?

Everytime the govt asks people to compromise on everything. Why can't they spend less money? Why don't they stop taking bribes or making scams of thousands of crores every few months? Just one less scam would save more than 16000 crores, imo.

Lamest idea ever. Raat ko jaisey gaadiyan nahi chalti hai. Inflation has grown leaps and bounds under the leadership of current govt. in Europe/UK they don't check the ground clearance for taxing a car but emissions - Higher emissions more tax charged for the car / Lesser the better . Here in India its just the opposite. Its simple here,since you are paying and like paying so now pay more.
 
Prime Minister, Finance Minister rejected Oil Ministry's proposal of keeping pumps closed from 8 pm to 8 am.

Yeah seems only measure left next is to apply for license in order to get fuel that too rationed.

On prime time yesterday night, Ravish Kumar was asking the same to a set of people. He was asking the panelists, what the govt could do in this situation. Options was we could import oil from Iran, which will take 10 months atleast. Increase coal production, reduce captive power production (that run on diesel), increase diesel prices so that malls and housing societies do not run their gen sets on them. Also it was suggested to increase coal run power plants by converting the Naphtha or gas run plants to coal based. This would decrease dependence on crude imports by 30/40% according to them.
