Induction cooker

I bought an Baja ICX 21 induction after much thought. I only had a cooker with iron bottom with me. So I put in some milk and water to prepare tea as an experiment into the cooker. Switched the induction to cooker mode. When it started, the unit makes a whirring noise (is it the fan?). So at first milk started heating a bit and could again hear another noise (probably from the utensil). Then it died down. I even tried switching it to the milk mode, dint work. When I checked the bottom of the cooker it is slightly hot. I completely disconnected the unit and retried the whole thing. This time the cooker did go hot but only after 5 minutes or so. It still dint boil.
Is there a fault with the cooker or something else? I can get a replacement but want to be sure before asking for one.

In all probability, it is because of the vessel. Use a stainless steel vessel. It should work like a charm. THe whirring sound is pretty much normal. Nothing to worry about.
Also, check the power with which you are cooking.. The lowest setting is usually a keep warm mode, and will not heat much..

The cooker setting is at 2000 watts-- I tried increasing, dint work. I can only decrease it.
And there were two sounds during the first operation. The second operation, I heard only one. Not sure what is wrong.

2000W is probably the highest setting. In that case, the food should start boiling in seconds.. Try with a stainless steel pan. It should work.[DOUBLEPOST=1377178677][/DOUBLEPOST]You do get periodic beep sounds if there is no vessel placed, or if the vessel is incompatible. Switch on the cooker without any vessel. You will get some beeps. Keep your vessel on it now.. If you still get the beeps, the vessel is not compatible.

See if a magnet sticks to the cooker bottom. Only magnetic vessels are induction friendly it seems.
I have enamelware which has iron in it.

The cooker was a gift with pigeon induction stove, had loaned it from a friend. What really is happening - It switches on, it beeps before I place the cooker, then I put the cooker it starts making a whirring sound and heats up the milk/water. In 30-40secs, the whirring dies down and the heat buildup stops. Now I am not sure if this is happening due to some specific power requirement or the stove is not working.

If the contents of the vessel are heating up for a few seconds, then they are compatible with induction cooker. In your case, looks like the cooker is malfunctioning. There is no reason for it to switch off after few seconds of operation. The last thing you should try before going for replacement:- The moment the cooker switches on, reduce the max wattage to < 1000 and see if it continues to work or stops working as usual.

I think its overheating as you have kept it on the highest setting, reduce the power output to about 1000W as soon as you switch it on, and is the LED displaying something like E3, if yes then its the overheating warning (read the manual to know about the different types of warnings). And the whirring sound is of the fan.

Actually the wattage is as defined while pressing the cooker button. I will try inputting the wattage/temperature manually and see if it works. And, nope it is not showing E3 or any other error.[DOUBLEPOST=1377257112][/DOUBLEPOST]So the last test also failed. Dint work, it almost boiled the water when set to 1000watts but then again went silent. So replacement it is.

Ok just learned a lesson, I guess people should do too. Never buying from Croma -- absolutely crap service ..They first say:
"In case the Product is found having certain defect(s) immediately after delivery of the same, User can request for replacement of the Product any time after delivery of the Product but not later than fifteen(15) days from the date of delivery of the Product (which do not require any demo/installation) or fifteen (15) days from date of demo/installation (if manufacturing/working defect is discovered at the time of demo/installation for those products which require demo/installation), by placing 'Exchange’/ ‘Replacement Request' by logging a call on the Company’s Customer Service Centre."

And then slip in this:
"In case of any defect arising after delivery of the product or after demo/installation of the product as the case may be, such defects will be serviced by the respective manufacturer/brand in accordance with respective manufacturer's warranty terms."

Thereby absolving them of any issues one the product is at your door. Flipkart, I really appreciate you now even with high prices.
