Dear All,

I had positively complimented a fella TE member for a tasty price for his Mobo Sell.

http://www.techenclave.com/cpu-mobo-and-ram/gigabyte-ga-ex58-ud5-motherboard-204288.html#post1988822

I had gathered interest and was informing my friends if they wanna buy the Mobo.

However I don't understand why the TE Modd Gannu sent me a infraction.

Dear shahbaaz_vision,
You have received an infraction at TechEnclave.
Reason: Forum Rule Violation

-------

Fantastic price mate.

All the best,

TechEnclave

I mean what the hell is this? I am here since 2005 and know well my place and what to post still I am getting a Infraction.

All Mods and Admin, Please reply in this thread. This is really sick.

@shahbaaz_vision , chill dude, market mods are quite strict.
They can't withstand any kind of OT, whether it be compliment or any thing else.

So its better to stay away from that section, post only when you have to post.

Agreed buddy, I am here on this forum for more than 6yrs and know where to post, I was interested in the deal and the mod didn't even know my intention.

See where I am wrong, I wont argue. The mods should inform the user instead of putting an Infraction directly.

Its more like a football player is tackling to get the ball honorably and the umpire/referee is putting a RED Card.

C'mon man even in football there is something called a Yellow card which they give. Infraction is Red Signal which I feel is too much than a warning.

Being a long time member doesn't help nor does it solicit any special treatment from the mods and admins. Being a senior member, you should know the rules and learn to abide by them.

From TE Market Rules and Guidelines

Any post which does not fall within the following category will be deleted and the user infracted.

- Time Bump - Only the seller (or his specified representative in his absence) can bump the thread but no sooner than 24 hours since the last post

- Price Bump - The seller (or his specified representative in his absence) can update the price with a new post

The sum of the number of price-bump and time-bump should not exceed one in a period of 24 hours. TE is not a reverse auction site either. So use your bump wisely.

- Express interest - the prospect buyer must clearly express the intention to buy and can ask any relevant questions about the sale

- Technical and Supportive - It should add value to the discussion between the seller and the prospective buyer (all suggestions and negotiations on asking price and market price must be done via PM)

- Rule check - Sensitize the seller (thread starter) if he is breaking any market section rules

Users violating the market section rules will be awarded 5 infraction points for a period of 7 days. Beyond a total of 10 active points the user gets auto banned, so a consecutive violation within 7 days of last violation will lead to an auto ban.

Your post on the sale thread read 'Fantastic price mate.' does not qualify as expressing interest but a free bump. And thus, the infraction was given. If you are interested in the deal, explicitly mention your interest on the sale thread. Besides, you were warned previously for a similar instance before.

^ what was your post like ?? The mods might have mistaken.

And yes, if it was not serious, then a warning would have been better.

^ sorry mate, but those are insufficient to express your interested in the deal :(

So the mods might have taken that as OT or spam

The infraction you received is sort of yellow card, its not red by any means :) Ask me what red card on TE means, it means out of TE for a week or more ;) Gannu has done the right thing in giving an infraction... He knows rules better than most of us do.

@ OP: Live with it... An infraction is not gonna kill you! A lot of members who have received infractions are all alive (including me!)!! :P

Me too. I got a yellow card and then a straight red. I did not know what was happening :bleh:

Its not a big deal mate. When you get a red I think you can appeal too.

I got a red card, but I had no such 'out of TE' thing. But then I realized, Crazy Eddy was right. SMS lingo is notoriously hard to read. However, an infraction, for using just 2 words, I thought that it was a bit too much.

I think Gannu is very much right in doing what he did.

After all, Rules are rules! (and, these, as I read from gannu's post above, are quite helpful!)

and, I think in this particular case, it serves as a good example.

Everyone should go through the rules at least once, even if they haven't received any infraction yet. :)

An infraction here and there pretty much makes sure that one goes through the rules if they haven't.
Not to say that one shouldn't go through them before the first infraction.
