Insurance for Laptops

I just heard today from one of my friends that full cover insurances for laptops cost something around 1k per year. Is this true?

Eitherway, does anyone have any experience with purchasing insurance for a laptop?
If yes, please do impart a few words of wisdom :)

Did you friend ask is this true, provided he did the needed research on this "insurance"?
