CPU/Mobo Intel stock HSF fan replacement (in warranty)

The fan on the stock Intel HSF seems to be failing - does not show rpm. What is the procedure to only get the fan replaced. If the processor+hsf has to be returned it will mean a lot of hassle. Bought from Prime btw.

You can claim warranty for fan only but do check motherboard sensor and mobo fan header beforehand.

I briefly connected another PWM fan, RPM displayed correctly. The owner would like to replace only the fan without having to reseat the heatsink.

Unless the person removes the heat sink from board, he can't remove the fan. Both heat sink & fan is considered as one unit so both would be have to be returned imo.
