Hey guys
I have some relatives coming over from the states and i really wanted a new ipod around 300-400$. Now the iphone has a better battery life, has built in speakers, a 2Mp camera and calling feature as compared to the slimmer ipod touch but the main problem is that the calling feature cannot be used in india and the chance to unlock the iphone using the 3rd party program is pretty much out of the question.

Now my main question is that is the 100$ more investment decent for a 2mp camera, in-built speakers:cool2: and a better battery life or would u go for the 16GB touch instead?

Also when the iphone finally comes to india and the calling feature will be available on the iphones that come to india through the LEGAL route, will the iphone that i wouldve bought some months back from the states work in india like the ones that one can buy here coz i really cant wait and i am a really big fan of the iphone.
 
Oh you have written a long query. I will rather ask you a short question, What will you do with it if it stops working say after two days of your use???????
The only answer you have is Throw it away.

Buy an Ipod, It has intl warranty. Best of luck.
 
my major question here is to put it in simple words thats is:

Will the iphone bought from the states have the calling feature in india too when india gets the Iphone to sell legally just like the iphone which one will be able to buy here when that happens?
 
if they buy it in an apple store in the next 1-2 days, there's a good chance they'll get the 1.0.2 ver and not the new 1.1.1

even otherwise, the hack for the 1.1.1. should be out soon anyway
 
so are u saying that buying the iphone from the states in a month is a good idea or not? Will i be able to legally use the calling feature when the iphone is legally released in india?

What he said..and if you use any hack your warranty is voided straight away.

wow there is always someone making a program to unlock after the last one gets outdated.... Btw i wanted to know that if i could unlock the iphone i get from the states. I mean ive read ppl writing that AT&T Iphones cant be unlockd or something. Is this info true? Can the american iphone be unlocked in india?
 
Your best bet is to get one from the existing stocks at the apple stores (with V 1.02) ad then unlock it to use as a phone too

(I & Keane have done the same)

if you get the 1.1.1, you may want to wait ad watch as to how the unlocking scene unfolds

no even if it comes out, still u wont be able to use it coz urs wud be for at&t network, but what i have heard is that its not that difficult to to hack it and use it with your existing network in india/us/wherever. And i wud rather have a multi-feature single device with me rather than a music player, a separate phone and a camera maybe.

So are u finally telling me that i should get the iphone and hack it? Whats the chance that i will lose my iphone for good if i hack it?

where did u get ur iphone from?

u got it unlocked right?

All the iphone(even the unlocked ones selling in india) come from the states right?

So they too have AT&T requirement but can be unlocked

like urs ?

What im asking is that when i get the iphone and get it unlocked will i be able to use it just like u do with a vodafone or airtel connection? Then the one i get wont be any different than urs right even though u probably bought urs from india through the grey market?
