Laptops Is asus EEEpc900 available here in India yet?

Its gonna cost somewhere between 549 and 599 USD for the base model! So you can expect it to be around 25k when it comes to India!

If it actually costs that much, I might actually consider buying the current version. But portability is it's USP too, not just the cost. I don't think any other UMPC, weighing below 1kg is available for less than 36K( HCL mileap).

^^^ hcl itself has a toyish looking model for 14-15k's..

other tan tat i think for a normal user if the price shoots up 2 500-600 $'s the product would completely loose its charm.. i mean like come on.. i would rather carry a kilo of extra weight an get a good 14-15.4" screen.. also its not like the eeepc has amazing battery life or anythin..

the main usp of eee's success till now was its price.. no body minded buyin a second system to use around at home/ short trips.. but wit the new price its certainly not gonna be as successful!

EEE PC is meant for a different market. People who look for ulra-portability will welcome it. Although I agree that the cost is a bit on the higher side, but there will still be many many takers for it :)

well only time will tell..

an it launched in us for 550$ for the windows version with 12gb ssd drive.

an for the linux version its 565$ with 8gb ssd drive an 12gb mem card.

seems a little to highly priced to me.. !

there will be other eee pc like ones shortly. This space is going to see atleast 2-3 more players by end of this year. I think by Q4 prices will be much more competitive.

yup, the proccy on the mini-note sucks. even the supposedly higher end 1.6Ghz Via is outperformed by the 900Mhz celeron of the E :P

Me got an E for dad. now waiting to upgrade it with 8Gb SD and 2Gb RAM ;)

EEE PC with Atom processors will be released under a new series name in the 3rd or 4th quarter of this year!

yeah.. eee wit atom would be something to look out for,..

although a gr8 eee config for me currently would be :

Atom proccy.. A nice 8-9" LED screen... 32gb ssd.. 2gb ram.. an the rest of the normal config!!

hehe.. yeah i know dream on.. but hey anybody from asus reading this?? :ohyeah:
