So i have msi tomahawk max II motherboard and recently i was able to get my hands on 4070ti...is my motherboard good enough for it? The guy had 3090 too should i go for 3090 instead of 4070ti?
Yes i do have 5800x3D recently upgradedYou need a 5000 series processor. With first/second/third gen ryzens, 4070ti may be under utilised.
If you have budget for 4070ti then budget for 5700X or 5800X or even 5800X3D should not be an issue.
Yes I was wondering same but then theres this issue of having not enough vram for modern games though it depends on resolution (mine is 2k) if i decide to play on my tv could be 4k...is it still viable? All good man, Pcie 3.0 vs 4.0 has little impact on gaming performance. Also, 4070ti would be a better bet as well as much more efficient than 3090.
There's no clear answer to the VRAM question. More VRAM is always preferred, AMD launched graphics card with more VRAM since the last generation but even with lesser VRAM, Nvidia has been ruling the charts. I would reckon it would continue to do so in the next year or so. VRAM requirement should not witness a sudden surge, rather would see a gradual increase. Having said that, 12GB should be good for next year or two at least!Yes i do have 5800x3D recently upgraded

I hope so but i don't think so. 8 gb is already feeling the pressure with new games. Not just one, but multiple games now. Even at 1080p! Look at Hardware Unboxed videos/TechSpot and look at the dev video i linked above. 10 gb too in couple of games i think. There does seem to be a sudden jump in base vram usage even for 1080p due to devs focusing on new consoles perhaps. At some point 12gb wont be enough either. For a card costing 80k or so, this kind of limitation is not acceptable. There's no clear answer to the VRAM question.
