Hello....!
I have many questions.... :)

1. Can we connect 2 computers at the ends of an "Ethernet Cable" , and play lan Games?
2. If there are more than 2 computers, can the systems be connected like this, ( illustrated below)...?

pc1 --- ethernet cable--- pc2---- ehternet cable----- pc3 etc...

3. If the above thing does not work, a switch can be used to share files b/w computers or play LAN games.... right?

Yes you need a cross cable.

PC 2 needs to have 2 Ethernet cards.

Yes or even a simple hub would do.

If those are laptops with Wifi a simple ad-hoc network setup should be fine for some games . CS Source and Fifa 10 used to run fine for us in hostel.

If those are PCs you need to have a switch like damn said.

you can always buy a 500 rs simple 10/100 mbps hub and get started. if you want to connect computers directly, you will have to get a cross cable. google for cross cable ethernet
